Calling all Singing Teachers who would like a formal teaching qualification

New Postgraduate Certificate in Applied Professional Practice

I am now teaching a Postgraduate Certificate in Applied Professional Practice. This programme will enable you to specialise in vocal pedagogy as well as other areas to do with voice. It carries 60 Higher Education credits at level 7. The programme will be awarded by Cardiff Metropolitan University, but will be delivered in various parts of the UK. It can be used either as a standalone qualification or you can work towards the full Masters degree. I will be delivering it alongside ENT Consultant Surgeon, Declan Costello as well as specialists from Cardiff Metropolitan University.

It is ideal for those who are working as vocal coaches or for those considering entering into the profession. As the link between science and art is a relatively new discipline, the course is also ideal for those from a music background who wish to gain a firmer understanding of vocal pedagogy.

This highly flexible programme will offer you the opportunity to attain academic recognition for the skills, knowledge and experience that you have already gained in the workplace through your professional practice, with a specific focus on the area of vocal pedagogy as well as other areas of relevant study. The modules have been purposefully designed to help you review and analyse the current debates relevant to the professional context in which you are working.

We are already working now with one full cohort of students, their seminars are taking place in Reading. As well as a number of experienced singing teachers, the group includes singers who are just starting their teaching careers, choral conductors and Conservatoire professors. The next group are currently signing up for a course beginning in the late spring 2015. For more information please visit the Voice Workshop website.
